An insight into Sarah Glanville Floral Design!

Well where do I begin... Hello, I'm sarah owner/director of Sarah Glanville Floral Design (SGFD) and flower enthusiast haha just had to add a cheesy line for the first post. I have decided to start sharing blog posts on my website with you guys as right from the very beginning of my flower adventure I think it's so important to be on a personal level with my customers/suppliers/colleagues and friends so that you can share my journey with me!

I welcome any comments/questions/feedback on all of my posts as always. This is a friendly space for all, even competitors we are all in this together right?

I started SGFD during the first lockdown in 2020 after a couple years of attending workshops and classes I knew I had a special gift with flowers and a natural eye with colour/flower selection and creating designs. I started offering small contactless doorstep bouquets for £10 as a way for people to tell their loved ones that they are thinking of them and love them even though they couldn't see each other and boy did they take off.

As with any business at the beginning it starts off with family and close friends doing their bit and supporting you partly because they feel like they have to ;) and partly because they love you and want to see you flourish. This then slowly builds into real customers of your very own. Floristry is one of the few businesses that gives you the opportunity to gain 2 customers with every sale and I see this as a challenge, I am a very ambitious person and also quite stubborn... well actually very stubborn haha!

I have let SGFD grow organically and not been greedy with accepting every order. I am still to this day a one man band and it's so important to me to maintain good quality products so this means that I do book up very quickly, hopefully one day in the near future I will be brave enough to expand the business so that I can take on more bookings every day and fit all of you lovely lot in as I hate having to turn people away.

Flowers weren't always a dream or passion of mine I'm not going to lie. I was very academic at school and had a natural ability with numbers which led me into a career in accountancy which I never really enjoyed, it was just something that I could easily do if that makes sense. I was forever on the look out for what I could do to work for myself and get out of being in an office as I missed interacting with people in person and I am soooo grateful to finally be doing my dream job. I can't thank all of my customers enough for supporting my business it truly does mean so much to me.

I have taken on so many new job roles over these past few months and it is such hard work with there literally not ever being a single minute that I'm awake that I am not doing something SGFD related but I wouldn't change it for the world. I have become delivery driver, logistics manager, customer service, accountant, marketing manager, sales manager, owner, florist, administrator and so many more and I am so up for this I can't wait to see where I can take my brand. I have got so many amazing ideas in the pipeline that I can't wait to share with you.

Thank you for taking the time to read my first blog post I am going to finish up here as I could carry on talking forever. I will be posting another post in the next few days so make sure to keep an eye out for it. I'd love your feedback on this post so please leave your comments.

Lots of love Sarah x
